[Monocle isn't the only one less than pleased with his lot in the bodyswap plot. Descole, having woken up as Don Paolo of all people, has now resorted to laying on a sofa in the lobby, staring up at the ceiling and smoking her way through a pack of cigarettes.

She's aware that Don Paolo's body doesn't actually crave them (or, at least, it didn't prior to Descole getting into it), but she does, and it's calming, even if she did have to suffer through the choking on them again at first. She needs to be calm right now. She doesn't particularly trust the idea of Don Paolo with her body, if she's honest.]

[She takes a drag of her cigarette, then blows the smoke in Monocle's face.]

[He yodels and bats the smoke away with his paws.]

Only one person here holds that sort of contempt for me and smokes like a chimney, Descole.

[...and we're back to choking on the cigarette.]

...how did you know that I smoke?

Do you think that I don't follow the old proverb about keeping your friends close. Are we not friends, my dear?

[Oh god it feels so weird saying this to Don Paolo.]

[She glares at him - something that's rather more effective with two eyes and a face like this - and takes a long drag of her cigarette.]

Most certainly not.

How unfortunate.

But that aside, I don't feel that Paul would be best impressed with your treatment of his body.

Smoking is not my only vice. Alcohol is rather high up there, too.

I'm not sure that it's possible to get drunk enough to sleep with Paul.

Well, I only have one eye. More can be excused.

Enough alcohol basically deals with that.

Paul's voice is also... well, there's not very much that is desirable about Paul.

He was there. That was about all I needed at that point.

And if a Layton had been there?

...I couldn't have slept with a Layton.

[She stares at him, then bursts out laughing.]

I don't blame you. God. This is too weird.

I never expected to spend today as a cat talking to Don Paolo about his sexual encounters with... Don Paolo.

And I never expected to spend any day having a civil conversation with a Layton, let alone under these circumstances.

I'm actually quite the civil individual if you'd be willing to give me the chance.

[She hesitates.]

...that's easier said than done, no matter how civil you are.

So nothing I could say or do would convince you?

[Sighing, she finishes her cigarette and lights up a new one. She has thought that having a Layton whose company she can stand might help, but this one... after their first meeting...]

I wouldn't want to pressure you.

[Hacks a little at the smoke.]

[Chuckling, she blows smoke at him again.]

Forgive me if I struggle to believe that from a Layton.

[Backs away, fur-raised.]

You can believe whatever you like, but in general we are a pleasant breed.

My Layton didn't exactly leave me with that impression though, you know?

He seems to be an oddity among us...
