Campaigning the lazy way...

[Descole is sitting on a couch in the lobby. He's not looking like himself at all. He's not wearing his usual suit, he's wearing black slacks and a slightly ruffled tight fitting white shirt, no muffler. His hair is wet, like he'd just gotten out of the shower, and he's not wearing a hat to cover half his face. Just his mask. Mask always stays on.]

[Sitting cross-legged, staring at the piano across the way, he wonders how he's going to pull off a campaign and how much he misses Raymond. He also wonders if he should wander over there and play music, but in fear of bothering people, he decides not too. While not feeling very evil, or much like building anything lately, he's decided, he's pretty neutral. Until some one pisses him off, but that hasn't happened yet.]

[Surely, he knows he's not acting like himself, and being lonely is kind of terrible. Being in a sound mental state, he wouldn't mind being bothered. Also he knows if he's going to campaign he needs to make friends. That's new...]

[Clive pouts a bit, but snorts and sits down anyway.]

I'm not that short, shut up. You're just freakishly tall.

[He laughs.]

Love, I'm 5'9 1/2"-5'10". I'm not tall. Anyway, I wasn't saying you're short, I'm saying you've got a skinny back health and long legs. In dance you learn to take care of ones muscles based of body stucture.

Am I taller than you? Really?

I'm 5'4", so I think the answer to that question is a resounding yes. And you might not think you're tall, but that height certainly sounds tall when you're my size.

You're 5'4"!? Heh, no wonder you look so skinny from where I'm sitting. I suppose that's appropriate, anyway, be careful the way you stand. Your shoulders get too tense after a while and your spine goes in. If you keep standing like that, when you're older you'll be in a lot of pain.

But then again, you don't dance, so I'm sure you'll be fine. But still take care of your body while you're young.

Oh, shush. I don't even know how I'm this short, I'd say Mother might even be taller than you.

[He shrugs a bit.]

I think my posture is usually bad enough that it probably doesn't really matter what I do now. I'm probably screwed anyway. Oh well, though, I guess I'll deal with problems as they come.

You think? I'm not the tallest of men, but your mother must be quite tall.

Yes, see, that's what I thought too. I'd deal as they came, but once they did I now have pills for my muscle loss and such. It's harder to deal as you're older.

[Even though at most he was ten years older than Clive, but he was so harsh on his own self, he couldn't help the way he was. And he kind of wanted to take care of Clive, strangely enough. It was kind of nice to have that feeling.]

I remember her being taller than Father when I was younger, and there seems to be more of a height difference with her than with anyone else I run into around here.

[Clive shrugs a bit.]

Well... apart from my posture I'm mostly taking care of myself pretty well here. If I end up back home, though, there's not really much I can do.

Heh, I remember everyone being taller than me. Hershel, Lando, my little brother, my roommate. Eh, it probably wouldn't be such a feat for her.

Good. Take care of yourself. [He snickers.] I'm constantly telling my roommate what to so about his health too. Sorry if it's bothering you.

I think she does sort of fit into the freakishly tall bracket, since she's a woman.

[Shrugging, he stretches out a bit and grins.]

It's fine. It's... kind of funny, actually. All I really knew about you prior to this came from my researching Layton, so I only ever knew you in terms of your... altercations with him. It's not like I thought you were nothing more than that, but it's still odd to be getting lectured about my health from you considering that, you know?

[Descole laughs and nods.]

I know, if only you knew my life. Hershel was my childhood friend. He and Lando actually used to make fun of me, they were older than me. Actually, they were kind of bullies at me. Well not so much Hershel, but Landos, yes.

I'm a lot more then you would've thought, huh? Any questions?

[Clive considers a little.]

...what was Layton like? When he was younger?

[Descole laughs.]

He was naive. He was funny and awkward. I dunno. We always played music together and when Landos wasn't there to distract us, we worked on homework together. He was also afraid of my stepfather so we always spent nights at his house. He was sweet though, but when he was with Lando, they always made fun of me.

He was also, definitely bisexual.

He played music? I'll have to ask Hershel about that...

[Clive arches an eyebrow slightly.]

I'd rather gathered that, if Hershel and the one with the monocle are anything to go by.

Oh yes, he played piano and violin and, um, cello, I think. I dunno, I had a lot of instruments in my house. But we played piano a lot together.

[He laughs.]

Sorry if I made you uncomfortable, but yes, Hershel was certainly always into men and women. He was always very awkward with it. Actually, thinking about it, it was rather cute.

Not uncomfortable, no. It just... seemed obvious by now. [He snorts.] Hershel didn't really seem that awkward about it at all, the one here. But I guess he's older, so...

I can certainly agree with him being cute, though.

Well, yes it is obvious, but I'm just saying, when he was young, he had a hard time grasping that fact. I mean, we were reserved about sexuality, but being boys, its a taboo subject we all talk about. He was very shy about it. I think he thought he was abnormal or something.

No, I get that... to be honest I didn't really find anyone particularly attractive until university. Looking back, I had crushes, but they were only for men - usually older than me, for that matter - and I just... at the time I just thought of it as an admiration thing or something. They weren't girls so I couldn't like them, except I didn't like girls at all. Plus I was shy in general, let alone about that, so... yeah, I understand what you mean.

I know, even though, being who is friends were, Lando and such being Lando, you would think he would be over at his age and think, "oh perhaps I am normal" but no. Always anxious anyways. He was so worried about his sexuality getting out, when Lando would practically molest him with some of his words and actions.

Oh high school was fun.

[...Clive really ought not to feel jealous, hearing that about someone Layton knew when he was younger that neither Fessah nor the Layton back home has ever mentioned. Nonetheless. He bites his lip slightly, but doesn't comment on it.]

...you knew him in high school?

Yup. From...age five? He was six or seven. He was shad o nice to me, which was always a plus in my book. And he didn't make fun of me for being in dance, which everyone made fun of me for being in dance, even my fellow dancers made fun of me.

He was sweet. He's definitely a good soul, that fucker.

[Here he laughs at how much of a better man Hershel had always been and will always be than him.]

...too good for me, certainly.

[He runs a hand through his hair, then leans his chin on one hand.]

Like I said. I wish I could have known him all that time like that. Maybe if things were different I wouldn't like him in the same way, but... well, it's Layton. I don't think I could ever not like him.

Yes, he is one of those souls isn't he?

Well, don't beat yourself up. You're not a bad person. I'm a bad person, worse than you. You and him are perfect as far as I'm concerned. He probably thinks it too, otherwise he wouldn't give you the time of day.

[He sighs and shakes his head.]

...sorry. It's not your fault. I just... you know when it just feels like everything is too good to be true? I feel like Hershel's going to wake up one day and realise what I'm actually like, and that he doesn't want to be with me after all. I know it's stupid.

Psh, I have done so much worse, your evil was down out if an act of passion. Mine was evil to be evil and you saw the error of your ways and admitted it. You're a good person.

But I know that feeling. I've definitely felt that, but usually, if you end up together you're usually meant to be. Even if it doesn't last forever.

Heh, ever think you'd be getting dating or love advice from Jean Descole?

Well... thank you. It does help, I just... can't help but worry, you know? He just seems so much better than I deserve.
