I wasn't really going to be starting this off with anyone but a Clive, realistically.
[Clive has been in prison for nearly six months now, and six months is more than long enough to know a place that you've spent the entirety of that time in. More than long enough for him to realise immediately that this is not his cell. There's nowhere this spacious in the entire prison, for that matter; even the exercise yard is smaller than this, and not nearly as fancy-looking. If he had to hazard a guess, he thinks it mostly looks like some sort of hotel lobby, although there's no check-in in sight. Or any other people, for that matter.
The fact he can't even work out where he is probably doesn't bode well for finding out how he's gotten here in the first place, but he supposes that the first order of business is at the very least trying to find someone else in this place who might be able to answer his questions.]
Hello? Is anyone there?

Hello? Is anyone there?

[A man was walking towards him. He looked so much like Hershel Layton but was very definitely... not so. For starters the real Layton would never dress in such an over-the-top grand manner, nor would he wear a monocle. This man regarded Clive with a smirk.]
Your name is Clive Dove, correct?
Forward-dated to after meeting Maria, this one deserves a chance at least. XD
Lll... Lackett. Not Dove.
[U-using his birth name feels a little bit safer, because hopefully that way he'll be associated with Maria.]
Re: Forward-dated to after meeting Maria, this one deserves a chance at least. XD
[It appears from Monocle's momentarily confused expression that he is not familiar with Maria, but he soon masks it with the return of his gentle smile.]
Regardless of your title, it is very nice to meet you.
[He bows low then returns to his full height, towering over Clive juuuust a little.]
no subject
[Monocle this is why you need to remember your top hat, otherwise everyone will know you're a midget like Clive.]
And you're...?
no subject
[The smile is kept in-tact, but on the inside he is very much frowning.]
no subject
...forgive me, but you're certainly not Layton as I remember him.
no subject
[Is mildly interested.]

[There's very definitely frowning going on now.]
I can assure you that I am the most charming gentleman in all of London, Mr. Lackett.
no subject
...tackily.
no subject
[He steps towards Clive suddenly.]
no subject
And being a gentleman is not a requirement to recognising one.
no subject
[Backs Clive up against the nearest wall.]
no subject
[Monocle do you really think that is intimidating I have been in prison for six months.]
no subject
Then perhaps I should increase the distance between us, child.
no subject
[He's going to be gripping your hand in return, Monocle.]
no subject
[He places a hand on Clive's shoulder, forcing him to his knees.]
...But you shall be treated to the same fate as him.
no subject
If prison has taught me one thing, professor, it has taught me to bite. Take that as a warning, if you're intending what I believe.
no subject
[He strokes Clive's cheek, almost fondly.]
no subject
[At which point he turns his head to bite down on Monocle's fingers - he did warn him.]
no subject
And this was how you kept yourself from being violated?
no subject
If you're one of those types then I suppose I'll have to take a different approach.
no subject
[He's still close, not willing to give Clive an inch.]
no subject
no subject
I would not do that, if I were you.
