[Drinking alone has started to pass from just "depressing" into "unhealthy", so Descole's enforced a ban on herself and the mini-fridge has obliged by removing all of the alcohol. Of course, after making the decision she promptly changed her mind, and now she doesn't have anything to drink despite wanting one.

So she's trying to take her mind off things by cleaning, instead, and she's found a room with just enough minuscule bits of dirt to occupy her. It's kind of pointless, given that the place cleans itself perfectly well without any input, but it's something that she can do without dropping her guard too much, and that makes it top of a very small list of things that can pass as leisure activities for her at this point. Anyone passing by is welcome to interrupt her - talking is probably a healthier pastime than trying to scrub holes in the floor, anyway.]

We're pretty narcissistic. It would make for a funny story one day.

[Laughing a little, she sips at her water again, moving slowly over to where she'd left the bread and picking it up. She nibbles a bit off the end, glancing back at Descole.]

[Descole laughs.]

I like how you look at me while eating as if too say "look I ate, are you proud of me?"

[Descole flushes a bit.]

Well, it... it's not something I do consciously, it's automatic.

No, I know. It's not a bad thing. It's actually rather just like me.

[He licks his lips and shrugs at the site.]

I am proud of you though. You're certainly stronger than I am.

Well, at least you manage to eat things that are healthy, double. Meat and bread... not so much, you know?

Okay, so it may be healthy, but can you imagine only eating fruit? That's so light it doesn't fill anyone up!

Oh, I don't know. I think I could fill myself up on fruit... but, then, it doesn't take much to fill me up, really.

Same here. When I say fill me up, I mean...healthily. I can eat half and apple and feel full, but I'm sure my body doesn't like that. Fuck you body.

[She laughs.]

True. It's the same for me. But I'm sure it's better from you for a vitamin point of view, you know?

Possibly. Maybe...I suppose that's right. Well, you're still consuming more protein than me by eating that bread.

I think I'm good for protein mostly, yeah. And I guess fibre. But otherwise, it's not all that good.

Fibre is good. So is protein. Vitamin C is good too.

See, that last one is more your thing.

I know it is, that's why I said it. But hey, who cares? You look fine, that's all that matters.

Ehhh, you look better than me. I don't know, I don't like how I look that much, but it suits you just fine. I guess it's probably partly because I like my women curvier than this, you know?

[He nods.]

You are curvy though. I mean you have curves. Better girls being twigs then men. That just...well it looks pathetic. That's why I wear a cape. I need something to intimidate people.

Well... yeah, kind of, but the curves I have are barely there.I've seen pubescent girls with a bigger chest than mine. And I have reasons to want to intimidate people too, double, but I'm both a woman and scrawny like this.

At least you're better looking. How many people do you see, who are even the slightest bit curious of a scrawny man's ideals. None. At least people look at you and see, "well, she's skinny, but she pulls it off well".

How come we always get into these battles of who has it worse off?

Perhaps, but I don't exactly pull it off all that well. When my weight drops to its lowest I get too gangly, I start to seem like a pubescent boy in terms of how well I'm pulling it off. You don't even look that scrawny, so long as you don't strip down any further than your jacket.

[She laughs.] It's the narcissism! We want to compliment ourselves but there's that little niggling voice that tells us to be modest, so we have to compliment each other at the expense of ourselves.

Oh let's stop lying to each other! We're skinny and we love it!

[Descole laughs knowing that's not true for him, but keeps the smile on.]

I hate it. I have to wear like five layers to look normal. And right now, you certainly do not look like a boy.

[She snorts.]

You're a bad liar, double. But, no, it's not that I look like a boy exactly, just... you know that look teenaged boys get, when they're all skinny and look like their limbs are too long? Since I'm tall, if I get too skinny it can look like that.

I suppose so. You don't look that way now.

And don't some women strive to obtain that figure? I've read about that before, it's quite...a strange desire, in my opinion. But hey, each to their own.

I'm a pretty good liar, I just haven't had to lie well yet.

Ehh, yeah, it's never a figure that I've wanted myself, or looked for in other women. It's not so bad in men, though. Hmm... you should try to lie to me properly sometime, and see if I can catch it.
