[Like all of the residents of the Dressing Room, Monocle awoke this morning to find that he could not tell a lie. After considering this for sometime he decided that, in light of this, now is the perfect time to end his current silence in regards to the election and give people the chance to talk to him.
He's in the lobby and is making an announcement, if anyone cares to listen.]
My fellow residents of the Dressing Room, I'm sure you've all noticed that today our humble home has decided to grant us a blessing that causes us to only speak the truth. To me, this seems like a very appropriate measure to take in the run up to an election. It keeps the candidates as honest as you all deserve for them to be.
Perhaps some of you have noticed that while the other two candidates have spoken at length about their appeal, I have said little to nothing. This is because I am aware of the great many rumors being spread about me. Of course, I naturally want to disprove these rumors, but how could I promise to you all that I am telling the truth about these matters?
The current situation allows me to promise that.
So if you have any concerns at all regarding the election, please speak with me now about them and I will answer as best I can.
But before that, there is one rumor that I want to put a stop to. Another candidate has unfortunately been spreading slander about my actions in regard to our own female Descole. So I want to make one thing very clear:
I was not the Layton who raped her or scarred her by carving my name into her chest.
This was a Layton from her own world, who I am in no way connected to. And this is something that I wanted to make very clear, as a gentleman should never harm a lady as such.
Sorry for going on at such length, but I feel you all deserve to know the truth. So please, if you wish to talk with me I'd be honored to hear from any of the citizens who the Prime Minister will be representing.

...yes. Well.
It doesn't make me trust you any more, I must admit.

I had a feeling that you would bring this subject up, Clive, and therefore wish to present you with my apologies. You may recall that we were two of the first people to arrive in this place, barring the good Lady Descole. Upon that time I did not understand the Dressing Room very well. While I knew that you were not the Clive I was familiar with, back then I saw no reason to see you as being that different from him. The Clive of my world is my partner and enjoys... shall we say, "rough intercourse". He often makes out that he does not enjoy it, when actually he very much does. At the time I assumed that you were the same as him, but was wrong.
So while I'm not trying to justify my actions, I am saying that I would have not done so had I known more about you and maintain that I didn't actually engage in any sort of sexual activity with you at the end of the day.

Well. I hardly think a man who jumps to conclusions that would lead to rape is one that this place ought to have as its ruler.

Rape is a big word, Clive, and not one that you should be throwing about willy-nilly.

Whats the point to you?

I believe that government is important. That the people should be represented. Giving them a chance to choose who they feel would do that best is a much more superior method than that of an outdated monarchy forced upon them, I've always felt.
So I want the election because I don't feel secure living in a world with no rules, whether good people could be harmed because there is no one to stop it from being that way.

My double doesn't trust you, why should I or any other of the Descoles, which may or may not grow?

Let's look at your track record, shall we? You have attempted to destroy a town of innocents to get to a hidden garden, kidnapped a young lady to force her to do your bidding, held hostage people attending an opera and made many attempts to kill myself, my friends and anyone who has been standing in your way.
You are a dangerous man.
If you were to become ruler of this place then I would worry greatly for those who oppose you.
That is one of the reasons I wish to run against you, because I care for the citizens of this place like I did for my own back in London. Regardless of how you feel about the presentation, I want what's best for this place.

Master Monicle.. What would the people gain by haveing you in power? what would you offer them. How would you bring it?
no subject
Well, if the people were to vote for me to be the Prime Minister they would gain the security of knowing that they will not be harmed, that they will each be treated fairly and that I, along with those who help me, would attempt to tackle any of the oddities this place shows us as best I can.
What I have to offer them is the experience of someone who has been in this position before. I am not running on a whim and do not want this just because it's something I feel could be fun for a short while. Being the Prime Minister is my life. As I have been one for many years. I take caring for the people very seriously.
As for how I will bring them the security that they desire, this will be through many methods. But as said to our opposing candidate Descole a short while ago, my methods would be via the will of the people as much as possible - they will vote, they will form a jury, they will have a chance to have their say. I will merely be the medium to act out their will.

Do you think we should work to help the DR run more smouley, if so what types of jobs would be?
no subject
On one hand, the Dressing Room provides us with all that we need, so there is seemingly no need to work or to have currency. But at the same time working is healthy, as it keeps skills sharpened and the mind occupied. So if people want to work I feel that they should have the option to. Who's to stop someone from, say, opening up their own restaurant separate from the ones this place provides if they see fit?
and at the same time, there are jobs that only us, as residents, can handle. Like the aforementioned jury.

I assume this is... personal and not in regards to the current election. Because I can assure you I have no 'alternate punishment' in that regard.
In regards to your rather cryptic message, however, I will remove the scars from my body in a way that I know how to.

Please don't.

First of all, given the unexpected nature of everything that has happened so far, I would not deem that situation to be impossible. In which case, I would not pick favourites. Whoever I could help, I would. Regardless of who they are.

I know ou where here longer then Luke or I, but how much of this place do you know of?
