Three Wishes
This month, the DR has an extra special gift for its residents; for the entire month, they'll have the chance to make three wishes. They have the chance for those wishes to be permanent, too; one will be lost, come the end of the month (whether or not they've used their full three), but any other wishes remain in place permanently. Or until the DR chooses to take the effects away at an unspecified later date, of course. Be careful what you wish for though, residents, and bear in mind too that the place is liable to be purposefully pedantic unless you state exactly what it is that you want, excluding any potential for it to misinterpret.

This event will run for the whole of September.

Pony Plot
Does what it says on the tin - all of the characters within the Dressing Room will be magically turned into ponies (ala My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) for the ten days that the plot runs. Or maybe your character will be turned into a baby dragon. Or a Discord. Or even an old-fashioned G1 pony. The choice is yours!

If you don't like MLP then... um... might be best to sit this one out, bro. We're always open for suggestions for future plots if there's something you do want to see used down the line.

This event will run from Monday 13th August to Wednesday 22nd August

Dear Residents of the Dressing Room,

As you know, the Prime Minister of this place, Twister, has recently expired. In the interests of raising spirits at such a time, and as people have been conducting investigations, I propose a game. A game of Cluedo, more or less.

Please place your guesses as to the murderer within the box. Correct guesses will be rewarded, while incorrect guesses and those who fail to offer a guess will be penalised. Upon his return, Twister will be given the means to confirm which residents are to receive reward. Have fun playing, residents.

MURDER MYSTERY EVENT
A fitting them for an event, considering the recent redesign of the Dressing Room and the large amount of residents from the Monocle AU. Like the title says, it's murder mystery week! Would you believe that

monocle_layton, our glorious Prime Minister, has been murdered? And your job, as his loving subjects, is to find our who killed him, where they killed him and what they killed him with. Feel free to ask any questions and hold any suspects. Unless, well, you ARE the killer.

But you're not the killer, right? ;D

This event will run from Monday 9th July to Wednesday 18th July

SECONDARY ANNOUNCEMENT THING:

Some of the nickname themes for multiple characters have been decided. Laytons will be named after games, Clives will be named after birds and Lukes will be named after sports. Other characters (Descoles, Dimitris, etc.) will have themes chosen at a later date. I'm sure that in the near future we can create a list of who has what nickname, so that it's easier for everyone.

EDIT: To commemorate the move IC, and also so as to cater to the fifty million evil!Laytons we've somehow amassed, the DR now looks like a bigger, even more batshit version of the Towering Pagoda. Err... enjoy?

This is a note to say that as of next Monday (June 25), we'll be migrating the comm over to Dreamwidth. Each update makes LiveJournal more unwieldy to run an RP comm on, whereas Dreamwidth is a lot better in terms of user input and just the general workability of the site at this point.

The name will remain the same (laytondressing).

SINS AND VIRTUES
This month, residents of the DR will either be feeling a little more sinful or a little more virtuous than they usually do. Each resident will find themselves displaying an unusual amount of any one of the deadly sins or heavenly virtues - or more than one, if they're particularly unlucky. How this manifests, though, is entirely dependent upon which sin or virtue is affecting them in particular.

This event will run from Monday 11th June to Wednesday 20th June.

Another issue that's come up is the issue of nicknaming residents so as to tell them apart IC. From the beginning of next month, each resident will have an irremovable paper nametag with their nickname (names chosen by the individual muns), once there are more than two of a particular character present. Laytons will be named after games, but the themes for Lukes, and Clives are up to debate at the moment. Comment here with any theme suggestions.

Superpowers
The DR's certainly extraordinary, but that can't always be said for all of the residents. This month, though, everyone's going to be extraordinary - or have extraordinary powers, at least. For the duration, every member of the DR will be given a superpower. Whether that power is actually of any use, or whether they'll have any real control over it is an entirely different matter though.

This event will run from Monday 14th May to Wednesday 23rd May.

Dæmons
Ever wanted a better way of getting to know what the other people in the DR are really like? Well, the DR's offering a solution this month, by giving every resident a dæmon for the duration of this plot; an animal companion that represents their soul. Younger residents may find that their dæmons can still shift from one animal to another, whereas those of the older residents will be set as one animal that represents them. Careful in making judgements based on the dæmons, though - they might not be a particular animal for the most obvious reasons, after all.

This event will run from Monday 9th April to Wednesday 18th April.

monocle_layton, with vote results coming in at 57.1% (12) for him, 23.8% (5) for puzzlingchest, and 19.0% (4) for sinisterballet.

Truth Plot
The DR's doing its part to keep the election honest - by making sure the candidates can't lie in the run-up. Of course, it wouldn't be fair for only the candidates to be affected, which means that for ten days, everybody in the place is going to be unable to tell a lie. They might be able to talk their way around things enough to almost lie, but nobody can directly lie, and neither can they avoid answering questions. In the interests of fairness, though, not only will an attempt to tell a lie fail, but so will any attempt to ask people which way they're voting. The DR is a democracy, after all, at least until the election results come in.

This event will run from Monday 12th March to Wednesday 21st March.

PLDR Elections
Voting for the election will last one week, from Monday 19th March to Sunday 25th March. The voting post will be put up and poll opened at 7AM GMT+0 on Monday, and the poll will be shut at 7PM GMT+0 on Sunday.

Home Worlds

Never let it be said that the DR doesn't at least attempt to give its residents what it wants. For that reason, it's decided to give them an exit, at least temporarily. For the duration of this, there are labelled doorways in the lobby, each one leading to the home world of one of the residents, at more-or-less the time that they left it - those from multiple points in the same world will each have a door of their own, unless the difference is negligible. Time passing between the world and the DR once inside a world may not be totally in sync, however, though it's likely to fall so that more time passes in the home worlds than the DR. Probably for the best, really, given that once ten days pass within the DR, any of the residents still in a different world - whether their own or another's - will be pulled back again.

This event will run from Monday 13th February to Wednesday 22nd February.

Happy New Year, everyone! So, since it's the 1st in England at least, here's the event post!

Bodyswap
The DR has a special surprise for you, inhabitants! If you don't recognise the place you've woken up in, don't worry - you didn't get too drunk at New Years, or whatever you might be thinking, you've just woken up in someone else's body. No big deal, happens all the time! Well, in the DR, at least. Of course, though, the DR wouldn't want to leave its inhabitants with no hope of getting themselves back to their own body, so scattered around the place you'll find a variety of books, movies, etc., that deal with the subject of bodyswapping. So there's an awful lot of methods that are worth attempting, to see if they'll swap you back - it's just a shame that the only thing that'll actually work is waiting for the event to finish.

This event will run from Monday 9th January to Wednesday 18th January.

For the time being, I'm putting on the customised comment page for this place's layout. Sorry, guys, I know it's ugly, but at least it functions better than the new site scheme one. ^^;

I'll switch back as soon as there's some sort of opt-out or they swap back to the old scheme, but for now I guess we're stuck with this.

ETA: Okay! It's meant having to change the journal style, and I'm still working through some kinks with it, but I've found a script to at least add back subject lines and return some of the functionality! ~~I'll just go sob in the corner now LJ WHAT DID YOU DO~~

ETA2: Other than not renewing any paid accounts, I have two suggestions to help with encouraging LJ to sort out the mess they've made. Firstly, sign the petition! Secondly, if you haven't already, enable adblock. They don't seem to be listening to paying customers so far, but here's hoping that if they start to lose out on ad revenue too, that'll help.

If they don't roll back the changes, however, I'm going to look at the logistics of moving us over to Dreamwidth. Currently, they're invite-free until New Years, and as of the new update they've been talking about making it so that you can port over communities as well as just journals. I'm aware that it's not ideal, given that DW is invite- or paid-only most of the time, and if you guys are against it then I'll just carry on doing what I can to keep things functioning over here. If you're up for it, though, and LJ doesn't do anything to make things actually work, then I'll definitely look at whether it would be possible!

Enchanted Mistletoe
So, everyone knows the drill with mistletoe; you get caught under it with someone else, you have to kiss them. Unfortunately, the DR doesn't quite seem to have gotten the full memo about mistletoe, because if you get caught under mistletoe here? You're stuck. Don't worry, though, all you have to do is kiss someone to get out! You just... might be waiting there for a while.

This event will run for ten days, from Monday 19th December to Wednesday 28th December.
