Well, this is certainly odd.
[Emmy stumbles a little as she appears in the lobby - understandable, really, given that she was stepping out of the Laytonmobile just a moment before. Much as she'd been paying more attention to Layton than her surroundings, she rather doubts that they're parked in a building. After all, they were supposed to be outside Misthallery, and who would put a town inside? Other than, well. Turning on her heel, she discovers that the Laytonmobile isn't even there behind her, anyway, and she promptly wheels around in a full circle to try to get a good look at her surroundings.]
Professor Layton!?
...anyone?
Professor Layton!?
...anyone?

What are you talking about? We haven't met!
[He takes her hand and half smiles.]
So, tell me about yourself Ms. Altava

And please, call me Jean.
[What a good way to switch things up.]

I'll tell anything that you want to know, within reason. Just ask away.

So you're close to Layton, then?
no subject
Are you? If you work in archaeology, that is.
no subject
I guess you can say I'm close enough. I knew him when we were very young.

[Damn, Layton didn't know that yet! Well the Descole in her world is going to have to work a lot harder at preserving his identity.]
no subject
None of my... research... turned up anything about you, though.

[Considering Jean Descole didn't always used to be his name.]
My and Hershel's relationship has always been a special one.

[She's going to give herself away as a reporter, at this rate.]
no subject
[Oh shit, he really needed to stop giving his whole life away. What was he thinking?]

With one word, and one word only, I would say "surreptitious". And that is all.
no subject
Perhaps I'll have to ask him about it.
no subject
Uh, no!
I mean, perhaps you shouldn't bring it up, yanno, for the better.
no subject
[She grins slyly up at Descole.]
I mean, there must be a reason for you to react so defensively...
no subject
Well, it's nothing. It might bring up bad memories if he remembered. Think of it like you're doing him a favor.

[He really needed help dodging this bullet.]

Listen, it's really nothing, you know, we're just supposed to be rivals and all, and we wouldn't want to go about changing that, would we?
