Well, this is certainly odd.
[Emmy stumbles a little as she appears in the lobby - understandable, really, given that she was stepping out of the Laytonmobile just a moment before. Much as she'd been paying more attention to Layton than her surroundings, she rather doubts that they're parked in a building. After all, they were supposed to be outside Misthallery, and who would put a town inside? Other than, well. Turning on her heel, she discovers that the Laytonmobile isn't even there behind her, anyway, and she promptly wheels around in a full circle to try to get a good look at her surroundings.]
Professor Layton!?
...anyone?
Professor Layton!?
...anyone?

[Considering Jean Descole didn't always used to be his name.]
My and Hershel's relationship has always been a special one.

[She's going to give herself away as a reporter, at this rate.]

[Oh shit, he really needed to stop giving his whole life away. What was he thinking?]

With one word, and one word only, I would say "surreptitious". And that is all.
no subject
Perhaps I'll have to ask him about it.
no subject
Uh, no!
I mean, perhaps you shouldn't bring it up, yanno, for the better.
no subject
[She grins slyly up at Descole.]
I mean, there must be a reason for you to react so defensively...
no subject
Well, it's nothing. It might bring up bad memories if he remembered. Think of it like you're doing him a favor.

[He really needed help dodging this bullet.]

Listen, it's really nothing, you know, we're just supposed to be rivals and all, and we wouldn't want to go about changing that, would we?

Tell me, what's your intuition telling you on this situation?
no subject
And my intuition suggests that you two were... involved.
no subject
Involved? What does that even mean--no, I think it would be best not to bring up that thought to him, hmm?
no subject
And I don't see why it would be so bad to bring it up. He's welcome to ask about my own prior... romantic tangles, as it were.
[And she'll lie through her teeth to keep her disguise in place. Nonetheless.]
no subject
[Why would she ask so many of these questions? Realizing something is up, he smirks lightly. He wonders if he's solved this puzzle, but won't say anything.]
Well, Ms. Altava, if it's not too much to ask then, what romantic tangles do you have?
no subject
[...shit. She'd expected more time than this. Flushing, she looks away.]
I thought I told you to call me Emmy.
no subject
Anyway, don't try and change the subject. What romantic tangles could a pretty girl like you have?
no subject
Nobody you'd know, I'm sure.
no subject
[She must have been an impostor, she wasn't acting like the Emmy he encountered. And he sure as hell wanted to know what she'd say.]
You imposed on my relationship with Layton, saying we were involved, whatever that means. Now, grace me with answers.
no subject
As for your relationship with Layton... that's different; we both know him. In my case, you don't know the men I've been with, and frankly I don't in most cases, either.
no subject
Oh Emmy. So so particular. I never would have pinned you as one to sleep around. You always said, in our minimal conversations you were a refined but strong woman.
