[Drinking alone has started to pass from just "depressing" into "unhealthy", so Descole's enforced a ban on herself and the mini-fridge has obliged by removing all of the alcohol. Of course, after making the decision she promptly changed her mind, and now she doesn't have anything to drink despite wanting one.

So she's trying to take her mind off things by cleaning, instead, and she's found a room with just enough minuscule bits of dirt to occupy her. It's kind of pointless, given that the place cleans itself perfectly well without any input, but it's something that she can do without dropping her guard too much, and that makes it top of a very small list of things that can pass as leisure activities for her at this point. Anyone passing by is welcome to interrupt her - talking is probably a healthier pastime than trying to scrub holes in the floor, anyway.]

[The smell of the bacon is making him feel kind of sick, but he's not letting her see, so he can try and persuade her.]

[Descole hesitates, biting her lip, then just pushes the plate away.]

Ugh. I can't.

Is there any bread? That's not so bad, I guess.

Do you think you could stomach some salted butter on it?

[He shakes his head.]

So, so close.

[And he gives a comforting laugh.]

...probably not, no. I just... salt isn't one of those tastes that I'm good with, really.

[She wraps her free arm around him, still clutching at his hand with her other.]

[He nods, playing with the ends of her hair.]

Well, any sodium is better than none. Perhaps you could eat a piece of bread or something? I don't want you to starve anymore than you already have.

Yeah, I could probably manage plain brad. Can you see if there is any?

[He opens a cabinate door and pulls out a loaf of dread. He smiles at her and shrugs.]

Only if you can do it. I don't want to make you sick.

[The of course the idea of eating anything so heavy like bread, to him makes Descole cringe a bit. He could never stomach that and for that, he was quite proud of his double.]

I can probably manage a little, yeah...

[She pulls a slice out and tears a piece off of it. It doesn't make her immediately feel sick to look at, like the bacon did, so she clutches at Descole's hand and starts to bite bits off the end, slowly.]

God, I... I hate that this sort of thing is about all I can manage most of the time, not just when it's bad like this.

Well yeah. At least you tried. All I can ever stomach is apples. Heh, one time, I went to the market and they had tomatoes. I grabbed one, since it looked like an apple, I thought maybe o could stomach it. But I just got sick. So, I've been confined to apples, grapes, and sometimes berries.

[He shrugged and laughed.]

At least we have each other and we can understand.

Mmm... at least there's more variety in taste, you know?

[She sighs and stares at the rest of the slice, once the piece she tore off is gone.]

I think half the problem I have is that everything I eat is so boring, and then I can't stomach anything else anyway.

I know. I'm sorry. Don't eat for taste eat for survival.

[He shrugs.]

'Least, that's how I look at it. I have too.

Mmm... sometimes I just wish I could manage other things, you know? It wasn't so bad before Layton. I could manage more meat and sauces and such, so I could manage proper meals even if they didn't happen very often.

[He nods to her. Food was not a good subject for him. He didn't understand it, or like it.]

I don't remember the last time I ate a full meal. And I'm not being facetious I honestly don't.

I don't remember either, not specifically... I mean, it certainly hasn't happened since what Layton did.

[She sighs a bit and reaches for the rest of the bread slice.]

[He does everything he can, not to watch her eat. I knows the pressure, and hates it.]

You feeling okay?

Yeah, I... I don't think I can manage any more, though. I know it's hardly anything, but...

Well it's better than nothing. It's good progress.

[He smiles for lack of better words.]

It just... feels kind of pathetic. Everything that I did, and then I'm beaten by a piece of bread. It's just plain embarrassing.

I know how it feels. I hate it. But it is only food. I hate it.

I just, god, it makes everything seem pointless. I can do whatever I like with my life, and then go home and sit there unable to even beat food.

I certainly know how that feels. I'm sorry for you. It gets better...

...god this makes me miss Simon and Bradley...

Mmm... well. Maybe they'll come here, right? I mean... I think I'd like to meet them, too, if they're close to you.

I'm sure they'd like you. I know they would. I'm glad you'd like to meet them, I hope you do.

Well... if they like you, I guess maybe they would. God, I think I'd be disappointing in comparison, though. You're so much more pleasant to be around than I must be.

You're just as plesant, don't you dare say that. Hell, in my opinion you're stronger than me, you'll let thing like bread touch your lips. I wish I could fathom the idea.
